Job description 

 The Parts Counter Sales Position has a Pay Scale consisting of the following elements and ranges. Wages include Base Hourly Compensation of between $17.00 and $18.00. The position may also pay commission compensation which is based on the value or amount of closed sales achieved from $0.00 (if no sales are made) without any upper limit other than sales performance. The position also may also pay a production bonus based on individual or team performance that may range from $0.00 (if baseline benchmarks are not met) without any fixed upper limit


Position Purpose

The Parts Counterperson is responsible for determining and accurately supplying parts to meet the needs of technicians and all retail/wholesale customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for qualifying customer’s needs and selling parts and accessories accurately and properly for completing sales and inventory records.
  • Provide courteous, professional and efficient service to all customers and at the same time promote the benefits of using genuine factory parts.
  • Solicit retail and wholesale parts business.
  • Actively solicit sales through the use of brochures, merchandise displays, and provide suggestive selling of service related parts in conjunction with the service department.
  • Responsible for ordering parts and accessories as requested or directed; for stocking and inventorying parts and accessories as required or directed.
  • Handle telephone, fax, email orders and requests for information and parts as well as over-the-counter customers.
  • Participate in all training programs that are made available or that are required by factory or dealership.
  • Assist service technicians in selecting parts needed for repairs in process.
  • Issue credit for parts returned, ensuring that the original invoice or its number is available so that purchase and pricing can be verified.
  • Prepare and/or complete parts requisitions for non-stock or special order items and follow-up on their status, notifying customer or Service Advisor and Service Coordinator.
  • Maintain adequate inventory on shelves and in bins by reporting items needing to be recorded and identifying any discrepancies in the stocking levels and participate in perpetual daily and other physical inventories as needed.
  • Maintain excellent organizational procedures in the department including the counter, displays, shelves and bins, computer terminals, printers and the customer contact area.
  • Use all appropriate security measures and procedures to safeguard customer information and company’s assets.
  • Ensure unsold items are returned to stock and recorded.
  • Assist in preparing parts to be returned for shipment.
  • Adhere to work schedule and arrive at work before your scheduled start time and be at your work station productively engaged by the scheduled time.
  • Must maintain accurate attendance records “clocking in and out”.
  • Complies with all safety rules and use all appropriate safety and personal protection equipment as required.
  • Safeguard customer and Dealer information per established policy.
  • Adhere to established dress code policy at all times.
  • Exemplifies organizational culture and holds others in department accountable for doing the same.
  • Accomplishes all current and future tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.
  • Other related duties as may be assigned.
